What Percentage of Hair Transplants are Successful?

Thanks to technological advancements of the last decade, hair transplantation has come a long way in recent years. There has never been a better time to get a hair transplant. The procedures are now safer, more efficient, and most importantly, more successful.

However, many people still don’t know how successful hair transplants are. The good news is; hair transplantations now boast an impressive 95-98% success rate.

However, success varies across the different hair transplantation techniques used. Similarly, various factors can affect the overall outcome of the treatment.

How It Works

During a hair transplantation procedure, hair follicles are transplanted from one part of the head, the donor area, to the thinning or bald part, the recipient area.

This process is carried out in various procedures such as Follicular Unit Excision and Follicular Unit Transplantation
The following factors may also determine the success of this procedure.

•    The technology available in  the clinic during the procedure
•    The skills of the doctor performing the surgery
•    The efforts the patient puts after the procedure
•    Type of hair

Success Depends on Goals

Different people have different reasons for getting a hair transplant. Therefore, while hair transplantation is now considered a very successful procedure, defining what constitutes a successful procedure is specific to individual patients.

As such, before you undergo the procedure, talk to your doctor and set realistic goals in line with your intended outcome. This way, you’ll be able to put the final results into perspective and accurately judge how successful the procedure was.

How Successful Are Hair Transplants?

  • Follicular Unit Transplants (FUT)

In the technique, doctors transplant follicular grafts from donor sites to recipient sites. The success rates range from 95 to 98 percent. Patients should know that the transplanted hair follicles fall off before the growth of new hair follicles. Don’t panic when this happens; it’s completely normal.

  • Follicular Unit Excision (FUE)

This technique time consuming because follicular units are removed and transplanted individually. In theory, this procedure should result in a 100% success rate, but in reality, the success rate is slightly lower than in FUT transplants. However, with multiple sessions, a higher success rate can be achieved.

No matter the procedure you choose, hair transplantation has positive outcomes and incredible success.

Technology and the type of hair transplant chosen aside, the success of the procedure hinges on the quality, experience, and skills of the doctor performing the procedure. At RESTORE, you get highly trained and skilled doctors with incredible artistry to give you virtually undetectable results.
