After a hair transplant, when is it okay to wear a hat?
One of the most common questions we receive is the following: "when can I wear a hat after my hair transplant?"
In sum, it is extremely common to wear a hat after a hair transplant in the weeks following your procedure.
However, we advise you very strongly to please not wear a hat for the first few days after a transplant. It’s critically important in those first few days post-op that you avoid disturbing and jostling the newly transplanted hairs. Additionally, putting on and removing a hat can dislodge and/or yank out the newly transplanted grafts, and we want to avoid that.
The best solution, after your surgery, is to avoid wearing a hat for 5 to 7 days (check with your physician). After 7 days, during the recovery period, you're safe to wear your hat as much as you like.
