Before the revolutionary hair-by-hair FUE method of transplantation, there was a great deal of embarrassment and stigma around addressing male hair loss.
When the topic wasn’t completely hush-hush it was ridiculed. Who can forget Morrie the wig guy falling backwards into the pool in Goodfellas? Well I am here to tell you that, thankfully, those days are over. With an FUE hair transplant, there are no wigs, no “rugs” and no embarrassment. No one even needs to know you’ve had one, unless you want them to. That’s how far we’ve come.
But is it “normal” to have a hair transplant? Yes, according to Wayne Rooney, England’s star soccer player:
It’s fairly common knowledge that Jude Law, Matthew McConaughey, John Travolta, Billy Bob Thornton and dozens of other well-known actors have all had FUE hair transplants. Yet like many aesthetic procedures undergone in Hollywood, no one is publicly admitting to having anything to do with hair restoration procedures.
Rather than wondering if something is normal, perhaps a better set of questions would look something like this:
- Does my hair loss bother me?
- Can I just “get over it” and not let it bother me?
- Am I OK with breaking out the clippers shaving my head (after all, a lot of guys do)?
- Do I want to do something about my hair loss or not?
If you answered in the affirmative to the last question, you are in luck, because the days of wigs and plugs are long gone. An FUE hair transplant is a minimally invasive, outpatient procedure that usually lasts a day. It produces completely natural and undetectable results.
There is nothing embarrassing about wanting to look and feel your best. Now you have that option.
