Undetectable. No, Really.

The days of hair plugs are long gone…if your hair restoration surgery is performed correctly. Today, you can achieve an undetectable hair transplant using your very own hair follicles that can deliver results that are 100% natural when performed by a skilled physician. And by “undetectable” we mean to complete strangers, your hair stylist, and to your closest loved ones.

Undetectable Hair Transplant – It’s a Real Thing

RESTORE was the first clinic in the world to offer the FDA cleared ARTAS® robotic hair transplant procedure. Dr. Harris was the lead consulting physician during the development of this state-of-the-art technology- an image- and algorithm-guided system that uses robotics to make the optimal selection of follicular units for each individual. It’s a revolutionary technology that leaves no linear scar, and delivers optimum results.

How Is Undetectable Achieved?

A person’s hair grows naturally as either single hairs or groupings of two to four hairs emerging from the scalp called follicular units. During a surgery, a “follicular unit transplant,” follicular units are harvested from the donor area, usually the back and sides of the head. Small incisions, “recipient sites,” are created in the bald or thinning areas and the follicular units are inserted one at a time.

The recipient sites, created by the physician using a small blade, needle, or the ARTAS robot, dictates the angles, directions, density, and irregularity of the grafts and follow the flow and direction dictated by the patients existing hair. The new grafts duplicate what the patient had in the area before it was lost. This means that the transplanted hair, once fully grown, never looks “pluggy” because follicular unit grafts grow in the same way as the natural hair once did.

Other factors that are important in the cosmetic result are hair shaft diameter, color, wave and curl—these are all taken into account in minute detail to mimic the hair that existed there before you started losing it. The result is totally natural looking hair.

Why Is Hair Shaft Diameter Important?

Most people can imagine that color or curl can be a significant factor when transplanting but few people understand the degree to which hair shaft diameter (the measure of thickness of each individual strand) impacts the success of a transplant. Hair shaft diameter varies significantly from one individual to the next, and greatly affects the degree of fullness that is perceived post-transplant.

In fact, diameter is more important to fullness than hair density, which is the number of hairs per square inch. Hair in the donor region with decreased diameter, such as those located near the neck or just above the ears should be avoided as potential donor hair, as this hair is itself prone to thinning. Therefore the hair shaft diameter is a crucial factor in selecting quality follicular units in the donor supply area.

Your hair is as unique as your DNA. When selecting a surgeon for hair transplantation, it is crucial that the physician actually performing the procedure is the one who also does the consultation, and that they are skilled in all factors critical in delivering outstanding results. In your quest for undetectable, make sure you vet your surgeon, the clinic and know your Hair Replacement Client’s Bill of Rights.
