Deion Sanders: Q & A

In an exclusive and engaging interview, RESTORE hair had the privilege of sitting down with the legendary Deion Sanders to delve into his experiences and seek valuable advice for young men facing the challenges of male pattern baldness, and sports. The conversation not only shed light on his personal journey with RESTORE but also brought out the charismatic and fun side of the sports icon.

Question 1: “What advice would you give to young athletes aspiring to reach the same level of success as you?”

“First and foremost, I don’t want them to be the second anything, I want them to be the first of everything. I don't want you to aspire to the same success, I want you to aspire to have more success. Learn from the blueprint I’ve given you and the mistakes I’ve made, and hopefully you don't have to take a left where I should have stayed right. I’d rather you go down your path, not mine.”

Question 2: “How did you develop your iconic touchdown dance?”

“Truthfully, MC Hammer had a song called Good to Go. He was in an all white, classic video, it was called the buck dance. I believe it originated out of New Orleans, Louisiana. If you see that video, you can see kinda where I get that dance, but it really started with MC Hammer, who arguably is one of the best entertainers to ever live. Some of his other top favorite artists, he goes on to say are, “Lil Wayne in rap, MC Hammer in his time for what he brought to the table, Michael Jackson for certain, and James Brown. That’s my Mount Rushmore.”

Question 3: “What’s the most embarrassing fashion trend you've ever followed?”

“I never followed anybody, I’ve always been a leader. Let me see - trying to think of the most embarrassing fashion that I've adorned myself with. I didn't get it because I couldn't afford it, but it was the Michael Jackson thriller jacket - yeah, I said it. Yeah, I wanted it. I had the parachute pants, but I didn't have the Michael Jackson to match. I couldn't afford it - thank god.”

Question 4: “If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?”

“I don't know if this is one food or a meal. Let’s just say it’s a meal. Black eyed peas, yellow rice. Oxtails, collard greens, cornbread -all made by my momma. Don’t forget the sweet iced tea - for life.”

Question 5: “What’s the funniest or strangest habit or superstition before a big event?”

“I pray before every event, that’s not strange. That’s consistency. Before every game, I walk around the field. When I played I jogged around the field. Now I can’t run anymore, so now I walk around the field. One lap around the field.”

“Habit - my son and I Shedeur, we walk from our sideline to the goal line side by side and we talk about the necessities of the game. We leave as Father Son, and once we reach the goal line, we come back as player and coach.”

Question 6: “Who's better at Ping pong, you or Brian Urlacher?”

"Just having the audacity to ask me makes me angry so I wouldn’t even give you the honor of having me answer that I’m better than Brian Urlacher at Ping Pong.”

Question 7: “How do you think Brian would answer this question?”

"I think Brian would answer the question the same as I did he wouldn’t respond.”

Question 8: “Can you describe the feeling of winning your first super bowl?”

"Phenomenal, great - exhilarating, but all for just a moment. I’m the kind of person who by the time I accomplish it I’m thinking of what's next.”
