After a hair transplant is it okay to wash my hair?

One of the most common questions we receive is the following: "is it okay to wash my hair after a hair transplant?"

We advise that you please wait at least one week before washing hair after a hair transplant. Also, the first few occasions that you wash your hair after your transplant should be quite gentle rather than vigorous. Additionally, although everything should be safe after one week, it’s still very important to avoid egregiously pulling, yanking, tugging, or severely traumatizing the newly implanted hairs and grafts if that can be avoided.

In sum, it's safe to begin washing your hair like normal one week after your hair transplant. However, you should still use common sense from that point forward, and try to avoid doing anything that is unnecessarily harsh to your hair for about the first month.
